BOOK GIVEAWAY

It's time for another giveaway to celebrate my latest pincushion in print! I mentioned a few posts ago that my pink bird pincushion made the cover of a new book. Packed with inspiration, Bags, Pillows, and Pincushions by the editors of American Patchwork & Quilting features 35 quick and easy projects that are perfect for today's busy schedules. I like to work on these types of projects in tandem with my larger quilting projects as they offer the benefit of faster gratification! I can't wait to make some of the book's pincushions—including a clever flower wristband made of wool roving and a trio of colorful veggies. For more information on this fun book, check out the publisher's site (John Wiley & Sons) at this link.

To celebrate the book's debut, I'm giving away TWO prizes. The grand prize is a copy of the book AND a kit to make the featured pincushion (the kit includes the wool only, no threads or buttons). The second prize is a copy of the book only.

Here's how to enter:
1. You must be an official follower to enter this giveaway. While I appreciate all my readers, I want to say a special thank you to my loyal followers for their show of support. An extra thank you to those who take the time to comment. It's reassuring to know that there are actually people out there who read my blog!
2. If you are a follower, simply leave a comment telling me what your favorite pincushion is and why. It could be anything—one you made, one you received as gift, or one you simply bought for yourself! If you enter anonymously, please include at least your first name so I have a way of identifying you if you win.
3. If you aren't already a follower but wish to become one, please feel free sign up and join in the fun.

This giveaway will be in effect until Thursday, January 27 (midnight central standard time). My hubby will choose the winners from a random drawing and I will announce them on January 28th. Good luck to all!

  4. Hi Kimber - I have been a follower via RSS feeds, but I just clicked "THE" button and I am now a proud follower~ I have several pincushions I love. Several of them I received this past summer during a pincushion exchange, others were made by a friend here in MI. All so beautiful. I just love my little collection. Each one makes me smile when I remember the person who made it!

  5. My favorite pincushion so far is one I made myself, even though it has its flaws - it is shaped like a pumpkin. Hopefully I'll acquire/make more as I continue sewing :)

  15. My favorite pincushion is one someone made me. It is in a little gold teacup and it reminds me of my grandmother who had gold teacups herself. I just started following you and have four cats myself three of which are black. Love the african violets too. I am trying to collect as many different colors as I can of them.

  20. Today I thoroughly enjoyed your book review, and the insights of a quilt book editor. You gave me an aha moment for something simple - small projects to get a tada while working on large bed quilt projects. I am now a follower. Until recently, I didn't own a pincushion. Then, I received an unexpected lovely giftie from New Zealand -- with a sweet hand embroidered pincushion. It is my mother's favorite too because works well with small pins. Thanks for the giveaway - the cover pincushion has a cute birdie.

  21. Hi, I am a follower. My favorite pin cushion is one that I made with my stitching friends. It has a basket of flowers on it and we made them with wool. It is very heavy so it just sits where I put it. Very handy.

  22. My one and only pincushion is a Mary Engelbreit teapot. It's special because my sister gave it to me. I've only made 2 pincushions and I gave them to my nieces.

I'm a follower and would love to know exactly where you are located in Iowa and if you are an open to public shop. I live in Ottumwa. My favorite pincushions: one I bought at the last AQS Des Moines booth, Country Threads and one I bought at the same time at Primitive Gatherings as a bunny wool kit and made myself. Our small group of 7 is getting ready for a pincushion exchange in February. Enjoy your blog site and yes I read them....

  29. My favorite pincushion is one made out of wool roving. I think the lanolin in the oil keeps my pins in good condition. But I love the pink one on the cover of the book, would love to be a winner. Sandy

  31. My favorite pincushion is the one my DH's grandmother made me when we were only dating about a year! I used it for years, but it is stitched with embroidery thread on linen and it got worn. I wanted to keep is as a memento, so I stopped using it...
And yes, since you came by on my blog I am following yours too!

  32. I've been following your blog for a little while now and always enjoy your posts! My favorite pincushion is one I made myself. It is a wool bluebird sitting on top of a brown wool cushion. The bird has a string of old buttons in his mouth...just like real birds might be attracted to certain objects and end up carrying them around in their mouths.

  33. My favorite pincushion is one I found in box of sewing items I inherited from my grandmother. Considering the skill of it I believe it was one of her first sewing projects (or possibly one of my aunts' first projects). This little heart pincushion has a special place in my sewing room.

  34. So happy to be among your many readers that appreciate your talents.
I guess with interest one of my most favorite pinkeeps is one I found in an antique shop.
A tattered red velvet that has been shown love throughout its long life. Maybe even passed down through generations.
I now have become a follower of yours and also thank you for stopping by my blog.

    As Always

  35. I just became a follower. I really enjoyed my visit to your blog. My favorite pincushion is the usual tomato. It is sectioned off and I keep my used sewing machine needles marked in ea section. Universal 90, 80, 75 etc, sharps, metallic, stretch, embroidery, topstitch. This is a handy way to use up my older needles for short projects. L J

  36. When I was nine, I made a wrist pincushion for 4-H. So easy to use and so much more comfortable than the hard, plastic cuff ones that came in the beginner sewing kits!
